There are two events for military veterans - a job fair and a federal benefits law clinic - in New Orleans this week.

1 --The "Hiring Our Heroes" Job Fair for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and their spouses,  is set for  Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in downtown New Orleans, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.    Representatives from about thirty organizations will be there to discuss job opportunities.  The statistical jobless rate is higher for veterans than others in the nation.  These free Job Fairs are hosted by the federal Department of Labor, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Recruit.Military to help in finding jobs.

2 --On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, "Project Salute: Young Lawyers Serving Veterans" will provide free legal advice to military veterans about federal veterans benefits, such as disability and pension benefits.   The law clinic is hosted by the American Bar Asssociations Young Lawyers Division, the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, Tulane Law School and Loyola Lawschul   The ABA is holding a midyear meeting in New Orleans this week and this is a service project of the conference.
