There are two events for military veterans - a job fair and a federal benefits law clinic - in New Orleans this week.

1 --The "Hiring Our Heroes" Job Fair for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and their spouses,� is set for� Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in downtown New Orleans, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.�� Representatives from about thirty organizations will be there to discuss job opportunities.� The statistical jobless rate is higher for veterans than others in the nation.� These free Job Fairs are hosted by the federal Department of Labor, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Recruit.Military to help in finding jobs.

2 --On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, "Project Salute: Young Lawyers Serving Veterans" will provide free legal advice to military veterans about federal veterans benefits, such as disability and pension benefits.�� The law clinic is hosted by the American Bar Asssociations Young Lawyers Division, the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, Tulane Law School and Loyola Lawschul�� The ABA is holding a midyear meeting in New Orleans this week and this is a service project of the conference.
